7 Types Of Toxic People To Stay Far Away From

Studies say, ‘’We are the average of the five people we hang around the most,” so if you want to know why you think the way you do and act the way you do, look at the people you spend most of your time with and question what they bring to the relationship.

Types of toxic people to stay far away from

If you are struggling to let go of people because you are not sure about who is toxic, here is a list of 7 types of toxic people you should stay far away from:

1. Negative Nancies. If you have a friend that always sees the world through a dark lens, let them go. It is exhausting to always focus on the dark side of life. Every human being requires a level of balance between positivity and negativity. You can’t just immense yourself into negative things alone and expect to have a happy life. It doesn’t work like that. The energy you put out there is the energy you receive, so if you want a more positive, happy life, you have to let go of that friend that is constantly negative and has no intention of changing their mindset.

2. The Demanding Friend/Always Want To Be The Center Of Attention. If your friend demands your time, money, and your literal mind space, let them go. If they want you to do only the things they want or think like them or focus on the ideas they love, let them go. Your resources and mind space are all yours to do with as you please. You don’t owe anyone these resources unless you choose to give them to them, and you don’t have to feel bad if you don’t want to share them every time.

3. The Gossip. If they talk to you about someone else, they will talk about you with them. Anyone who can trash-talk others that have not done anything bad to them will definitely trash-talk you when a hurdle arise in your relationship. Stay away from people with such a nasty habit as gossiping.

4. Selfish People. People that only take from you but never give in return when you need their help are selfish people you should cut ties with. You are not gaining anything from them anyways, so why keep them if all they think about is themselves but expect you to show up for them when they need you?

5  Entitled People. No one is entitled to your resources. You should give freely and kindly because you are blessed enough to do so. Don’t let entitled people who don’t do anything valuable for you to convince you. You are a bad person because you refuse to encourage their entitlement mentality. Let them go and free your mind of such people.

6. Blame Shifters. For a relationship of any kind to thrive, we have to take responsibility for our actions and contributions to the situation that plagues the relationship, so if you notice you are always the one taking the fall for someone else’s actions, go extremely low contact with them until they work to change their behaviors and if they don’t change, go no contact with them and move on with your life.

7. The Envious. If you can sense envy coming from them, stay away from them. The people in your life should want to see you do better in life and not be envious of your success. Momentary envy from a friend who vocalizes it and moves on to congratulate you because they are genuinely happy for you, but having a moment of weakness does not always mean that person is an awful person to be around. The envious people you should stay away from are those who try to make you feel bad for succeeding or try to upstage you, or try to diminish your success. Let those people go. You don’t need that toxic energy in your life.
