The source of these bacteria is often the puppies. It causes painful gastrointestinal issues. Dogs may even carry the organism that brings on the illness without showing signs of it in them.

5. Leptospirosis

This is also a zoonotic disease so there are chances that humans can catch them too. These bacteria cause a number of potentially fatal symptoms in dogs. Children are especially vulnerable to the disease, which can range from mild to severe in humans.

But all this doesn’t mean that you should stay away from your true friend. With adequate veterinary care, proper hygiene, and common sense, you probably won’t catch any killer diseases from your pet. Well, but it advised that you still avoid smooching your dog.
