Jim Carrey gave his condolences to the family of his girlfriend Cathriona White who was found dead in her home of Monday night.

Carrey said Tuesday that he was “deeply saddened” by news of her death whom he reportedly dated off and on since 2012.

“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled,” the actor wrote in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. “My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her.”

Paramedics responded to an emergency call to White’s Sherman Oaks home Monday night and pronounced her dead at the scene, said Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, according to CNN.

“The report is not completed, but it is an apparent suicide,” Corral said. An autopsy will be performed on Wednesday to determine the cause of the death.

Sources reportedly told TMZ that White left a note for Carrey before she died which mentioned the couple’s break up on Sept. 24. TMZ says that law enforcement found a bottle of pills by White’s body.

White was a makeup artist who moved from Ireland to Los Angeles in 2009 to pursue an acting career, according to the Irish Independent.

She met Carrey in March of 2012 and reportedly dated for a year until they split. Photographers snapped the pair this past spring holding hands in May of this year, according to the Irish Independent.

She left mysterious messages on Twitter and Instagram, which may have been her way of saying goodbye.
